The Fraud Squad….
Hello all. Recently I squeamishly watched this eye opening 2 part docu – series through London Police’s economic crime department regarding a very sophisticated crime gang in the most heart wrenching fake share selling scams.
Unfortunately, these scum bags exists among us preying especially on the very old and gullible. Their crime ring was so sophisticated and believable in the sense that they had high end cold calling skills and sales techniques, high glossy brochures to boot and very authentic looking certificates to seal the deal.
Apparently there are about 3.2m brits who have fallen victims to this multi-million pound scams and into the greedy clutches these heartless beeeeep!.
They mostly operated from boiler rooms in Spain and laundered their victims’ money through a series of international bank accounts, while the elusive ringleader moved across the playgrounds of Europe.
Unfortunately a 91 year old pensioner was one of their victims, he lost all his pension and life savings of about £140 thousand pounds as he was a multiple victim and these thugs kept coming back to him for more and more money. Some of their victims lost their life savings and homes!
All in all the total losses of their victims was estimated to be about £20m. But the detectives recovered just £1m mostly in the form of lavish cars and some money in the bank.
Shockingly enough they never recovered any lavish houses as they only rented out expensive villas and wasted most of the money living lavish lifestyles including going on expensive trips and material things.
In the end the crime squad simultaneously organised raids across Europe to arrest nine suspects. Although the ringleader slipped through the net he was latter apprehended and brought home to justice!
The gang were apparently one of 1,200 boiler rooms currently targeting Britain people.
I hope that anyone reading this blog will avoid being scammed. Your first clue will be a cold call from a representative of a blue chip corporation and or sometimes a non-existent company listening to a spiel about an unbelievable deal in owning shares .
